Pinpoint Accuracy

I've been places, but nowhere near this many. This is the world map on Peter's wall showing all the places he's been over the past decade or so. Pretty impressive, both the travel itself and the visual reference he's kept up.

It's not good to harbour regrets, but everyone should be forgiven a few I think. One of mine is that I didn't make a better effort to travel the world with my closest friends, pretty much all of whom have made it a priority to take in different cultures first-hand. During that time, my priority was building a radio career -- which provides very limited time off, and even more limited income. It just wasn't in the cards. I came to accept this after several years of feeling kind of blue each time my closest buddies would hit the road for months at a time, bringing back amazing photos and entertaining tales.

I have other priorities now, no longer career-driven and decidedly more inward-focused. I have plenty of great memories from trips to Ireland, through Europe once, and many journeys throughout North America with family and friends. But none of them were quite like the down and dirty adventurous style that my buddies still enjoy to this day. To them, the Third World is a playground they now fully understand -- and I can't help but believe that gives them a better perspective on the world, its people and life in general.

Like yourself I have also missed these giant traveling events and have regretted it. Also like yourself it just wasn't in the cards for me. Travel is expensive but the one good thing is that there's no age limit on traveling. And hey, the world isn't going anywhere!!
