Surf's Up, Down There Anyway

As we're being frozen out in Victoria, we're fondly recalling baking on the beach in Mexico just one week ago. This is a shot of us coming in from some boogy-board fun, at a gorgeous beach a few minutes drive from where we were staying. The ocean was warm, the waves were big enough to crest over our heads and send us a good 50 metres up onto the beach. Awesome!

Our beach had covered tables available for rent, 150 pesos for the day (that's about 15 bucks -- the conversion is easy to manage, 10-to-1). Vital to the uberwhite Canadian family, we just can't take the direct rays for too long. Just steps away, you could get a drink made right inside a pineapple -- grilled meats on a stick -- tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa -- and of course, Mexican beer! Many a Corona, Sol, and Pacifico were guzzled during our stay. Plenty of vendors come around to try and sell you stuff -- mostly you just have to turn them away, but a few succeeded.
